Lorenzo and I met in May of 2015 at a bar in Oscoda MI. It was brief nothing more than the exchange of a few words. Little did we know what the future had in store. Our paths crossed again. He asked for my number but I was hesitant, when I finally gave in. We went on our first date: August 17, 2015. He suggested a movie, and I told him I’ve been wanting to see Straight Out Of Compton. He was shocked to say the least. That was the first movie we watched together.
We spent hours and days together just talking and getting to know one another. We couldn’t get enough of each other. We’d go to the beach at dark, listening to the waves and looking at the sky... talking all night about everything. The beach is my favorite place. He would take me to different spots he found that he enjoyed. I fell in love with this man, hard, fast and unapologetically.
Our situations weren’t ideal but the connection we had couldn’t be ignored. We made it through a year of living five hours away from one another in different states. I made a big move to Cincinnati for a year and then we made it back home. We’re both from Michigan. We found out we were having a baby shortly after we moved. I was extra tired and gaining weight rapidly.... and much to our surprise identical twin girls!
We’ve been through everything that would tear a relationship apart but we made it out stronger. We’ve built a beautiful life, on top of that HE POPPED THE QUESTION! On August 18, 2018 our 3 year anniversary. (We never really had a set anniversary, so we made it the day after our first date) He asked me to be his wife! He said that he wouldn’t be the man he is today without me, and I make him want to be the best version of himself. I was in total shock. He must have been extremely nervous rambling on as I’m shaking my head yes, saying I do....haha.
Our love is so unique. It’s a love you don’t find often. We act like kids. We love each other hard. We teach, learn and grow from one another. We play fight, tickle, laugh... we fight annoy each other and apologize after. He keeps me sane, and I keep him grounded. All that just to say September 7, 2019 I’ll officially be Mrs. Coker
I first saw Amanda in an Oscoda bar; she seemed to be the life of the party. Free spirited and full of energy. Little did I know I would spend the next 3 years with this woman by my side, through the ups and downs, she has truly made me the man I am today. My only regret is that I did not make my way to that small town sooner. Together we’ve had quite the journey, we brought two beautiful baby girls into this world and on our 3rd year anniversary I decided that I would take it one step further. I was going to ask her to marry me, in hopes that she would take my hand knowing I’m not perfect or the most emotional being. So I chose to ask such an important question in a similar setting in which we met, a dim-lit bar. She was just as beautiful and full of life as the first day I met her. Surrounded by friends, some new and some old, I snuck away from conversation with the intent to pop the question. This was it palms sweaty, heart pounding, stomach turning, the moment of truth. I approached from behind with a soft touch on the shoulder, got down on one knee and a ring that’s been in my pocket for a week. Speaking over a crowd, words came from the heart as she responded...I do! All was quiet and all these nervous feelings were non-existent, I’m going to spend the rest of my days with the most amazing woman by my side for this wild ride we call life.
